Tom Westgate brings extensive knowledge and experience to the firm, as well as a broader perspective gained through a number of leadership roles at the national level.
Having started his public accounting career in 1972 with a Big Four firm, Tom's entrepreneurism spurred him to join Suls Westgate & Parente in 1979. After a successful tenure as managing partner, Tom moved on to a partnership with a leading local firm in 2000 where he served on the management committee. Tom joined Restivo Monacelli in 2011.
Since 1994, Tom has expanded his skill set in the areas of business valuation and litigation support exponentially, becoming accredited in Business Valuation and certified in Forensic Financial Analysis. His industry focus includes manufacturing, textiles, construction, wholesale and distribution, retail, auto dealerships, and professional services firms. Tom takes an active role in working with his clients, reviewing their financial statements and staying personally engaged with the organization's leadership.
With his extensive credentials, Tom is often called on to provide management advice to closely held businesses, and to serve as an expert witness in federal court and in state court in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. In addition, Tom regularly presents professional seminars on business valuation and related topics. He has also served as a Special Master to the U.S. District Court, as well as a mediator in various cases.
In his spare time, Tom works extensively with the Boys and Girls Club of Pawtucket; for this organization, he serves as a board member and treasurer, has a seat on the Executive Committee, chairs the Finance Committee, and works with the Golf Tournament Committee. Tom has also been the president of the Bryant College Alumni Association. When not traveling for vacation, Tom is a resident of North Kingstown.
